One of the most elusive, mythical creatures to ever “walk the earth” is right here in Scotland. Nessie as we call it lives in the Loch Ness, Scotland. This legend has come to be the most widely know mythical creature on the planet. Many eyes have seen Nessie or the Loch Ness Monster over the years.
The home of Nessie is the Loch Ness. Loch Means Lake in the welsh language. The Loch Ness is the biggest lake in all of Great Britain. It also contains more water than all of England, Scotland and Wales combined. It is said that the loch ness can contain the whole world’s population. The loch ness is part of a group of inter connected lochs that are called the Great Glen. The Loch Ness is on top of the Great Glen fault line, which is how the loch ness was created. The loch ness water has a low visibility level (murky), which makes the water very deceitful.
The loch ness monster is thought to be 20ft long, a long neck of 7 ft, 2, and is supposedly elephant grey, but there are many possibilities to what Nessie could look like. There have been numerous sightings of nessie, because of theses sightings a great commercial business has sprung up. At of all the business they all made a combined amount of 37 million dollars in 1993 and in 2007 since sightings have slowed they mad 18 million dollars. Saint Columba first sighted the monster in 565 A.D. The loch ness monster was, according to legend, first thought of as a murderess, but Saint Columba “cured” the beast; now the beast lives in peace. In the 1930’s roads were made, that gave an easy passage around the loch and gave an unblocked view of the loch. Sightings started to come in rapidly. Starting with the first photo taken by Hugh Gray in 1933 the modern legend of the Loch Ness Monster was born.
There have been over 1000 sightings of the Loch Ness Monster, the best evidence coming in the twentieth century when the search for the Loch Ness Monster became a worldwide spectacle. People flocked to Scotland to get a chance to see this majestic thing. Sightings skyrocketed. Seeing the picture taken by Hugh Gray created a worldwide frenzy to be the next one to take a photo of this beast.
Unlike many other photos of Nessie, Hugh Gray’s photo was proven not to be a hoax. Arthur Grant was driving home from work when he almost ran into this beast that was four feet tall, elephant grey and had a long neck. A monk had spotted this creature. Since monks are very religious, and this man was a monk, many people believed him and he swore that he saw this animal. Many sightings have happened over the years including 2007 where seven sightings have occurred. So Nessie is still being spotted over 70 years after it’s first sighting with a photo.
Birmingham and Andrew Carrol took sonar scans of the Loch Ness. They both detected, in separate trials, creatures over 20 ft long in length. Both creatures that were detected were said to have non-fish like movements and characteristics. Also something else that they found was that the creatures never came out of or above the water. One Sonar scan funded by Dr. Robert Rines found a creature with what looked like a face and a flipper.
One reason why the Loch Ness Monster could be real is because the loch ness has a lot of caves in which the loch ness monster could live in. The Loch Ness is over 20 miles in length, and more than 800 feet deep not including caves. With this said even while looking for the loch ness monster, the lake is so massive that it is extremely difficult to find a creature that travels fast in a lake as large as this. Another reason why this thing could be real is that there is so much evidence backing this creature up, that it is almost impossible to disprove. In April of 1960 Tim Dinsdale made a video of what could be the greatest piece of evidence that proves that Nessie is real. Tim Dinsdale was a man who was greatly interested in finding the Loch Ness Monster. In April of 1960, Dinsdale set out on a 5 day voyage, his purpose… to find the loch ness monster. He took a video that was not very clear but showed its purpose.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pVOyo-OwDYM Tim Dinsdale’s video has been studied and proven that the video was not a hoax.
This overwhelming amount of evidence shows that the Loch Ness Monster could indeed be a living species among us human beings.
Although there is much evidence to prove that the loch ness monster does indeed exist among us. There is also a great deal of evidence that proves that the Loch Ness Monster is just a figment of our wild imaginations.
The surgeon’s photo, the most famous photo of the loch ness monster that was taken, was proven to be fake. On Dr. Robert Kenneth Wilson’s deathbed he announced to his family that this, inconceivable photo, was in fact a hoax. The “ Loch Ness Monster” in this photo was actually a toy submarine.
The sonar searches conducted usually fell the two categories “inconclusive” or “nothing.” BBC a British news team conducted a search of over 20 submarines sweeping the whole lake with sonar and found no trace of any creature the size of a thought to be plesiosaur.
The Loch Ness monster is believed by many to be not real. This is because if there were a real loch ness monster there would have to be some proof of existence. Such as bones, feces, multiple “monsters.” Scientist believes that if there was one monster living in the Loch Ness than it would have to be extinct. This is because it would never be able to reproduce. The Loch Ness monster legend was started in the 5th century no animal could ever have lived this for long.
Marmaduke Wetherall claimed to have found giant footprints of a possible sea monster. The actual footprints were made out of a hippopotamus ashtray. He never admitted to what he did but it was proven to be the hoax that it is.
Many pictures taken of the loch ness monster have been so clear that it’s hard to believe that they are real. Some pictures depict a animal looking straight at them which is extremely hard to believe. Some pictures show a dinosaur walking around. That is very, very, very hard to believe.
Whenever there has been a sighting some seismic activity has been recorded. When the legend started, a small shift in the fault line which created a under water wave, created the legend of nessie that we know of today.
With this tremendous amount of information, showing that the loch ness monster isn’t real, is too much to go unnoticed. So with this evidence it clearly shows that the Loch Ness monster isn’treal.
Our conclusion about the Loch ness Monster is that it does not exist. This is because of the substantial amount of evidence against its existence. We believe that the people, who have seen this monster, have either misidentified or had a mirage. There is just no way that this thing exists.
One way that this phenomenon can be explained is by a underwater wave. Evidence supporting this theory is that the loch ness monster is located on a fault line.seiche as they call is when the weather has changed the water moves back in forth.
One of the greatest pieces of evidence is the surgeon’s photo, which was proven to be fake. All the other pieces of evidence have also been proven to be fake in someway.
When sonar searches were put place in the outcome of all the searches resulted in no new evidence found. When using sonar they found 20 ft long objects. Scuba divers have searched the Loch floor and found many trees on the floor. This knowledge puts into place the thought of the 20ft long objects were really trees instead of the monster itself.
With the sonar searches people had thought there could be a monster. As proven on Discovery Channel those un-fish like movements were trees floating by.
With all of the information available to us we decided on one thing… Nessie isn’t real. People can call us non- believers but the evidence is just too strong. With hoax’s and liars there are too many “wrong turns” for us to believe in this.
So with this we believe that it just is not possible for the loch ness monster to be real.
