Contacting the Dead is one extraordinary claim that needs extraordinary evidence. Many claim this to be true but some Skeptics believe otherwise. But, where do we stand? This whole article is about what contacting the dead is, but also some evidence that goes with the belief that this capability exists and other evidence that shows and disclaims the existence of this practice. Let's take a look at evidence for and how this practice is preformed.
Necromancies although may seem more modern its very old. It dates back to Persia, Greece and Rome, and in the Middle Ages was widely practiced by magicians, sorcerers, and witches. It was condemned by the Catholic Church as "the agency of evil spirits," and in Elizabethan England was outlawed by the Witchcraft Act of 1604. Also know as the "Salem Witch Trials".
A summoning can be done at any place where one can focus. A lot of the times this is done when a person may have suffered a recent loss or when they dead spirit needs to finish things. This can be done alone but in some cases is done with a group of people.There are many different ways that can be preformed to contact the dead one way is using "Tarot Cards," the other way is using a "Ouija board." Those are the most common ways people use to contact dead.
Now when you want to contact the dead there are many different steps preparations are rules you must follow here are some of them. First off you need to not be rude or it will give your aura a bad vibe on the astral and future attempts at contact or invocation of other spirits may be failed. Meditation is essential here during the ritual, as is a strong mind and spirit, with total control over your own thoughts and emotions so the spirit your contacting does not posses you. The ability to turn off and block out anything unwanted is of extreme importance when invoking anything from the astral. People who are fearful, overly impressionable or prone to excessive emotion/hysteria; unstable behavior, should not take part in any contacts. One must be cool, calm and collected at all times during a contact. The medium must always remain in total control of the situation. Or it will fail or worse.
Some others say that you first need to call certain gods. So here are some that would be called upon when conducting this ritual. A spell from ancient Greece calls upon the powers of the mighty Kore, Persephone, Ereshkigal, Adonis, Hermes and Thoth, to bind the dead. So there are some that are to called upon to weaken and hold the souls. It is also said by Seneca people that the summoning of the dead involves not only a burnt sacrifice but a blood-drenched aItar. Now most of you might be saying "EWW" right now well thats there way not everyone does that.
Now before you try and contact you must know never try to force the spirit into answering questions they do not wish to answer. The person acting as the medium will draw in the soul and speak for him/her. Usually the person closest to the deceased will feel him/her before anyone else. The person feeling closest to the deceased uses the tarot cards. He/she must read the cards out loud. Having a personal object of the deceased can be a help for those who are inexperienced or not as psychic, who are acting as the medium.
People who have contacted the dead do it do ask about a loved person or to help solve a mystery. Some people say its a mental state but thats the mystery to it.

There is no proof that your soul doesn't leave your corpse after death. Though there may be no real evidence against it people who have had someone close to them die are the ones who seem to contact the dead. Some say that contacting the dead is merley your imagination trying to deal with the loss or trama of the death.
The Ouija (wee-jee) board and Tarot cards are primary sources that prove that contacting the dead is performed.
